Cryptography

This week we learned about cryptography.  Cryptography is when you write or solve codes. We also learned about cryptanalysis, cryptology, cryptosystem, asymmetric, symmetric, public, private, cipher, key, code, and anagram. We watched videos and I learned what those words mean. Cryptanalysis is when you break codes without have a key. Cryptology means to write and solve codes. Cryptosystem is used to secure the data that you transmit. Asymmetric needs two keys, one key is private and the other key is public. Public Key can be used to encrypt messages. Symmetric Key can have letters, numbers that can be in a message and it changes the meaning to the message. Private key can break encrypted messages. Cipher is a way of writing codes its a secret way of doing it.  There are different kind Keys and they all do different things like write codes in a particular way. Code can change a message in a weird way that it cannot be understood and to be able to understand it you will need a key. Anagram is when you change the places of the letters in a word.

Key: 13

Plain text: i like cats because they are fun to play with. i prefer cats over dogs. cats are my favorite.

Cipher text: V YVXR PNGF ORPNHFR GURL NER SHA GB CYNL JVGU. V CERSRE PNGF BIRE QBTF. PNGF NER ZL SNIBEVGR.

A person might try to crack the code by copying the message. Then they will have to go to a page to help them crack the code. A page like cryptoclub.org. They can crack the code by looking at the letter frequencies. For example if there’s a single letter that shows a lot in the message then that letter might be I or A because those are the most used single letter words in the English language. They can do the same thing with three letter words. Then they can put words in the message until it makes sense.

I really like Cryptography. I think its really entertaining and really fun to work with.
